On Friday (20th of March 2026), our Apprentice Manager, Geoff Barrass, attended an event at Middlesbrough College hosted by the National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC).
It was a great event to be involved in, bringing together people who are all working towards the same goal—encouraging more women into the construction industry. With it being International Women’s History Month, it felt like a particularly important time to be having these conversations and celebrating the role women play across the sector.
Geoff had the chance to make some really positive connections with both education providers and others in the industry. As a result, he’ll be getting involved in future events at schools and colleges, helping to promote construction as a career path and support our ambition to see more women entering the industry.
At CMS, we know there’s still more to do when it comes to improving diversity in facilities maintenance. Getting out into schools and colleges and speaking directly to young people is a big part of that. It’s about showing what opportunities are out there and helping to change perceptions of the industry.
We’re proud to be part of events like this and look forward to continuing the conversation.
