In 2017, CMS were awarded a major contract to provide planned preventative maintenance and 24/7 reactive call outs to the a National Gym Group with fitness and wellbeing clubs located around the UK.
With 113 fitness & wellbeing clubs throughout the UK, the company provides its members with state of the art facilities, services and wellbeing experts ensuring an enjoyable an exceptional fitness experience.
Their aim is to deliver the highest levels of member safety and care across their range of services from hydrotherapy to personal training through to on site day nurseries.
Requirements
With a chain of nationwide gyms operating up to 16 hours a day with a never-ending flow of hot water to service gyms, class studios, swimming pools, cafés, changing rooms and showering facilities, being able to accurately and efficiently control the temperature in their leisure facilities was extremely important to the enjoyment and wellbeing of their visitors.
The fitness and wellbeing clubs needed not just a reliable heating and boiler maintenance programme but access to a network of nationwide qualified and experienced engineers available to respond quickly in the event of system failure. In addition to the maintenance of gas and heating systems, many of the fitness and wellbeing locations also benefit from on site cafés, all requiring annual servicing and maintenance of catering and ware wash appliances and equipment.
Solution
CMS worked with the facilities team to create a schedule of works for annual PPMs for boiler, heating and catering equipment to be carried out to SFG20 standards, managed by a CMS Technical Manager and delivered by a national network of fully qualified gas safe certified engineers.
The scope of works includes the maintenance of boilers and hot water systems as well as ensuring catering equipment in on site cafes are operating efficiently and safely.
Due to the constant demands of hot water for shower systems, swimming pools and café kitchens, the Gym Chain also utilise plate heat exchanges, maintained by CMS, this ensures a continuous supply of hot water with no drop off regardless of demand.
During the contract CMS have supported the Gym Group in also identifying improved standards of safety. Examples of this include improving ventilation in plant rooms where both swimming pool plant and gym boiler plant were housed, ensuring sufficient air circulation.
